For Immediate Release

RAINBOW QUEST! is the 501(c)3 non-profit leader in LGBTQ+ education, training, and recreational resources. We research, develop, and distribute the expansion-ready RAINBOW QUEST! board game: the colorful, fun, safe, and wholesome way to improve social skills, reduce bullying and discrimination, and build and sustain healthy and safe communities at home, work, school, and play.
The RAINBOW QUEST! game uses well-researched prompt cards and whole-brain expressive arts to facilitate discussions that strengthen empathy, compassion, and communication skills among allies and peers, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Easy to learn and play, RAINBOW QUEST! is the only educational and fun game that is more than LGBTQ+ culture and history. It inspires connections among players in authentic, not superficial, ways. The New York City Department of Education recognized the educational as well as the social values of RAINBOW QUEST! and placed it in over 250 schools. Eight USA States now require that noteworthy people, places, and events in LGBTQ+ culture be part of an inclusive curriculum that recognizes and respects everyone in our communities, and RAINBOW QUEST! makes meeting this requirement easy. It is suitable for ages 11 and up and used by Gay-Straight Alliances, social support groups, family game nights, and Gaymer meetups nationwide.
At RAINBOW QUEST! we believe in the healing and educational power of play. Consider the following statistics: The US Centers for Disease Control reported that LGBTQ+ students grew from 11% in 2015 to 26% in 2021 — a 227% increase in 8 years. Alarmingly, the White House Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden reported almost half of LGBTQ+ youth said they seriously considered committing suicide in the past year, which is three times the national average. The US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will release $1.7 million in federal funding for programs to support the physical and mental health of LGBTQ+ youth by investing in programs focused on family affirmation. But it is not enough. RAINBOW QUEST! offers a pre-emptive, not reactive, resource to combat depression and suicide.
By encouraging familiarity with hidden heroes, we can cultivate genuine racial, ethnic, and cultural pride as players learn that people like themselves made significant contributions to better humankind. The academic and social elements of RAINBOW QUEST! enhance understanding and reinforce the necessity of celebrating diversity among a community of all peoples.
Is there any wonder we were the People’s Choice Award at the 2021 Connecticut Festival of Indie Games?

Testimonials

Arthur Segal, M.D. Board Certified Psychiatrist, Diplomate ASAM

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Rainbow Quest! to the LGBTQ+ community. It’s unlike other board games where one masters a simple set of rules and scores higher than other players and thereby “wins.” Rather it is an effortless key to recollecting one’s past experiences and joyfully sharing them with others. Somehow, the usual reservations and inhibitions about revealing oneself to others are dissolved quickly, and a comfortable flow of intimate experiences is established among the players. People get to know one another in a safe and comfortable environment. Congratulations on inventing a game where people share and enjoy life experiences.

Jennifer M. Teacher and GSA advisor, Princeton, NJ

As a teacher who takes pride in including LGBTQ+ history in my work, this is a really great product, and you should be proud of it. Anyone working in education who wants to create safer schools should have access to this game. I appreciate that you took the care to create a teaching tool that is so much fun, all my students love it when I bring out the Rainbow Quest! box. You can feel the excitement and good energy as students listen intently to one another at every player’s turn. I also bring out the game whenever a homophobic bullying incident occurs in our school or community. The conversations are priceless, and I’m glad to know I’m helping offset the fear of being different.
